Husband dies and wife critical in Upper Tongaat accident

The jaws of life were used to free the victims and the severely injured woman received advanced life support.

A man died and his wife was seriously injured when their vehicle allegedly rolled on the R614 near Upper Tongaat, just after 6am this morning (Sunday September 18).

Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue said the victims were trapped in their car.

The man in his early 40s died from severe injuries and his wife was in critical condition.

“The jaws of life were used to free the victims and the severely injured woman received advanced life support,” said Herbst.

The woman was transported to Victoria hospital.

Paramedics urge motorists to drive cautiously in the wet weather conditions.
