Boy critical after near drowning at Tinley Manor tidal pool

The child's lifeless body was seen floating in the tidal pool before he was pulled to safety.

A nine-year-old boy almost drowned in a tidal pool in Tinley Manor this afternoon.

“The boy had been swimming but got into trouble. Some people at the pool noticed the boy’s lifeless body floating in the water,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Dylan Meyrick.

“They pulled him to the pool’s edge and alerted the lifeguards who immediately started CPR.”

Meyrick said advanced life support paramedics successfully resuscitated the boy after some concerted effort.

“The boy was in a critical condition. He was intubated and ventilated and transported to Stanger Hospital.”

Meyrick complimented the KDM lifeguards and paramedics for their swift and successful response.

Parents are urged to keep a close watch on their children at the beach especially when they are swimming.
