Tasting Ballito’s best mince pies

We tasted and found our favourite mince pies in town.

One of the best parts about Christmas is the festive food.

The North Coast Courier journalists went on a mince pie mission to find out who has the most scrumptious mince pie in the land.

Packaging: Modern and attractive with an interesting purple theme, breaking the traditional red and green look.

Look: The new chocolate mince pies are absolutely beautiful and look like a complete treat.

Taste: A decadent mix between cherries, chocolate and that little Christmas spice. It is recommended to warm these in the oven before serving them, which makes them even more delicious, but they are great cold too.

Price: R20,99 for four

Packaging: Classy, fresh and clean.

Look: There is a variety of mince pies this year, ranging from gluten free, traditional, dark chocolate with orange and a chocolate brownie mince pie, so it is up to you which look and taste you want to indulge in.

Taste: For someone who does not like mince pies (these people exist) this is a winner, as the chocolate brownie mince pie tastes more like chocolate pudding with a faint hint of that mince pie spicyness. It is also recommended to heat these mince pies in the oven before serving.
