There’s a new doctor in town

Dr. Ilse Weideman is excited to start a new chapter of helping people.

Coming from a family of medical professionals, being a doctor is practically in the blood of CliniCare‘s new Ilse Weideman.

The vibrant general practitioner has replaced doctor Esmeranda Kruyshaar.

After working in Stanger Hospital‘s departments of Orthopaedics, Surgery and ENT and with more than six years experience under her belt, Dr Weideman has embraced being a GP, saying that it gave her more time to spend getting to know her patients. She also practices at NorthCare Medical at the Simbithi Office Park on Tuesday afternoon and Friday mornings.

“I love being able to help people, even if it just means improving their quality of life. Sometimes you find that people just need to talk and developing a relationship with someone is important. My mother was a nurse and my dad was a doctor so I grew up always wanting to help. When I was still in school I use to carry medical supplies in my bag, just in case there was an ’emergency’ and someone fell on the playground,” she said.

The warm and friendly doctor is proudly South African and spends her free time enjoying nature and reading tons of classic books. Weideman said she strongly believes in preventative care.

“It is always a bonus to stop people from getting sick before it actually happens. Again, this rests with communication. Many people do not understand the importance of keeping a balanced diet and exercising and some people take medication without fully understanding what it is for. The small things make a big difference,” she said.

Excited for the new year, Dr Weideman looks forward to meeting patients and developing a great and lasting relationship with them.

“So far everyone has been amazing. It is rare to come in to a place that has no problems and a team that is ready and willing to help. My husband has been amazing and supportive. Overall, I am so blessed,” she said.
