The jaws of life were used to free the driver of a taxi after the vehicle lost control at the Westbrook traffic circle this morning.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst, thirteen passengers were left injured after the taxi veered off an embankment, coming to a rest on its side in the thick vegetation.
Emergency services, including IPSS Medical Rescue, Tongaat Fire and Emergency Services and Netcare 911 were on scene to assist.

Chris Botha of Netcare 911 said that two of the passengers sustained serious injuries, while the remaining passengers suffered minor injures.
They were then taken to various hospitals for treatment.
