UPDATE: R102 reopened after protest
After closing for protests last night, the R102 has since been reopened
Tongaat Community Policing Forum chairperson Nazir Sadack has confirmed that the the R102 road between Tongaat and Ballito has been reopened following last night’s protests.
The protesters were cleared out of the area – together with the obstacles on the road – at around 11.30pm.
Angry Fairbreeze township residents took to the streets yesterday evening protesting against an electricity blackout that lasted two days.

The main power box was set alight by the protesters, leaving Fairbreeze, Maidstone and Jon Roz in darkness.
Sadack reported that technicians were called out to fix the power box late last night.
“The electricity has not yet been restored this morning but technicians are working on it.”
