From “Journey to the Roof” to “Journey to Recovery”

Tim was pinned under a vehicle and taken to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery

A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for Ballito’s enduro racer and the producer and director of  “Journey to the roof”, Timothy Hay, who was involved in a life threatening accident in January whilst filming.
The severity of Tim’s injuries has left him unable to work for about 6-12 months.
“Tim was pinned under a vehicle and taken to hospital where he underwent a three and a half hour emergency operation to repair a ruptured bowel and a severed colon,” said his sister, Carey Hay.
“X-rays revealed a fractured hip that was repaired with a pin in the back and a plate in the front.”
Tim is still in ICU in a hospital in Cape Town.

Last year, the enduro racer partook in the toughest race in Africa, “The Roof of Africa”, which takes place in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho.
The routes see riders making their way around huts, mountains and the difficult slopes of Lesotho facing many obstacles and challenges, literally pushing through the blood, sweat and tears.
“One of Tim’s greatest achievements is doing “The Roof of Africa”, getting bronze and then silver.
“We now need to help him achieve gold in his “journey to recovery” by raising funds to help support him.
“We have created this GoFundMe account and page for Tim, to help with his finances and all his rehabilitation costs as he is self employed and will be unable to provide for himself for the next 6-12 months. Any help (no matter how small) will be greatly appreciated and will take a lot of pressure off of him.”
