WATCH: Help Midmar swimmers make a difference in SA

Help the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation make a difference in the number of drownings worldwide.

Swimming the Midmar 8 Mile is no mean feat – swimming it for charity is something worth taking note of.

Dominique Donner Rodd, the SA Project Manager for the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa (PCMF SA) and Director of NC Dolphins Swim Team will be swimming 8 miles this weekend.

This year there are 25 swimmers in the PCMF Midmar 8 Mile Team and their goal is to collectively raise R250 000, which will go a very long way in helping the foundation further its mission here in South Africa.

Of the total of 25 swimmers, 9 are from Ballito.

The primary objective of the PCMF SA is to have a global impact on reducing drowning statistics.

The Foundation’s mission is to raise public awareness about the dangers of water and to equip each individual with the tools to survive in deep water, perform CPR and basic First Aid. The Foundation is striving to make “learn-to-swim” lessons accessible to all children.

Another mission of the Foundation is to spread the values of sport such as discipline, respect for oneself and for others, determination and teamwork. The “Sport and Education” programme believes that sport is a tool that contributes to the development and well-being of children.

According to the foundation, sport has the ability to save and change lives, to accomplish great destiny and empower people.

If you or your company are in a position to donate an amount to helping raise funds for the charity it would be greatly appreciated.
