KDM takes action against business forum

The municipality was granted an interim order by the Durban High Court

KwaDukuza municipality obtained a court order against the Delangokubona Business Forum, Umzansi wo Darkie Business Forum to stop them from intimidating municipal workers and contractors.

KDM communication and knowledge officer Sphelelo Ngobese said the municipality wants the forums and their members interdicted and stopped from threatening, intimidating, assaulting and interfering with their employees, contractors, sub-contractors working on construction projects in KwaDukuza.

The municipality was granted an interim order by the Durban High Court.

Last year the Delangokubona Business Forum and ten other forums landed themselves in court after Tongaat Hulett Developments, Vumani Civils CC, WK Construction SA and Water Bles Investments were granted interim interdicts to stop them from threatening, intimidating or harassing their construction workers around the new Sibaya Precinct development at Umdloti.

However, forum chairperson Sabelo Zulu denied using violence and intimidation to force its way into private contracts.

“We do not know anything about KwaDukuza municipality getting a court order against us.”
