Applications stream in for Ballito Junction jobs
Many will be disappointed as there are only between 1 200-1 500 jobs available

More than 5 000 job-hungry KwaDukuza residents are vying for jobs at the new Ballito Junction mall that opens next month.
However, many will be disappointed as there are only between 1 200-1 500 jobs available.
Last year the KwaDukuza municipality and the Ballito Junction mall management agreed that, wherever possible, vacancies will be filled by people from the region. It was estimated that once operational, the mall is expected to provide up to 1 500 permanent and part-time jobs of which about 80 per cent will be filled by locals, sustaining an estimated 10 000 people.
Although the deadline for CVs passed on January 31, more applicants are sending in their details every day.
Ballito Junction Regional Mall CEO, Geraldine Jorgenson said a database of CV’s of local residents is being compiled and made available to the tenants and the service providers of the mall in order to facilitate and encourage employment from the community.
“The owners of the mall have made a commitment to KwaDukuza municipality to ensure that as many employment opportunities as possible are afforded to the local community. It is important to note that Ballito Junction Regional Mall is merely facilitating the encouragement for local employment.”
