High finance in the nude

The ladies at the recent Women in Business meeting at Hirsch Ballito received a passionate talk with a naughty touch as the topic of high finance was undressed

Jane Wiltshire from Valbridge recently gave the ladies at the Women in Business meeting at Hirsch Ballito a passionate talk with a naughty touch as she undressed high finance.
The power business woman said her talk – High Finance in the Nude – was a “geek’s guide to getting ahead in a high powered world”.

“I am going to tell you how I went from an uptight pupae to a confident butterfly,” said Wiltshire as she started her presentation with an x-rated picture or two which really got the ladies’ attention.
She started working at her uncle’s store at the age of 12 in Empangeni, which is where she got her first lessons in people skills and business. At university she studied maths and science and became a teacher “as one did as a woman in those days”.

“My story is about incredible luck. My ex-husband was hopeless with cash. When the sheriff arrived at our home for the third time to take everything, while my ex-husband offered him a drink, I realised I could not rely on him and had to take finances into my own hands. I was lucky there and he was always supportive and proud of me, which I needed to get through the tough world out there where I, as a female teacher was paid 25% less than men and was not allowed a pension fund or medical aid.”

These unfair practices got her out of teaching and propelled her to make a bold move.

“I took my children and went to Cape Town to study an MBA, which I completed in 1985. I have never worked so hard or drank so much beer. I learnt how to work with men as team members and equals. I think men are magnificent! I also got involved with the international toastmistresses, who taught me confidence and how to be a hostess. The first time they made me a hostess, I fainted. Properly.”

Wiltshire shared a string of valuable lessons with the ladies including the three most powerful words to say to a man: “please help me”.

“The secret to success it to just take a deep breath, go out there and do it. Some of my best business deals were done on the phone while I was at home, completely in the nude. That is when I realised that people will never know how nervous or shy you are if you do not show it.”
