Teen killed crossing highway at Salt Rock
It's shaping up to be a dangerous weekend on the roads.
A 15-year-old boy was hit by a car and killed while crossing the N2 shortly before 6pm last night.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst the pedestrian ran across the road in front of a taxi.
The taxi reportedly tried to swerve but hit the boy, after which there was a secondary accident between a bakkie and a car.
The bakkie was the delivery vehicle belonging to local charity Vision 153.
It’s been a busy weekend for emergency response workers on the Dolphin Coast’s roads so far.
Yesterday afternoon a four-car accident brought the N2 southbound to a standstill near the Zinkwazi off-ramp, while on the M4 before the Zimbali circle a truck and a Bantam were involved in a crash.

This morning the driver of a silver Corolla lost control on the N2 northbound just before the Chaka’s Rock off-ramp.
“The driver lost control, aquaplaned over a water puddle and came across the centre median into oncoming traffic. The vehicle rolled multiple times,” said Herbst.
One patient was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Herbst has warned drivers to be careful on the roads, as bad weather and poor conditions make driving treacherous.
