A temporary tent structure has been erected in the meantime for services to be held – leading to complaints from many locals about the noise booming out of the services at all hours.
Omotoso is in court in PE for his bail hearing after he was arrested last month on 22 charges of rape and sexual offenses.
During court proceedings it also emerged that he may be in South Africa illegally.
This came to light when immigration officer Ivan Klaasen testified that one of Omotoso’s visas‚ issued by a former home affairs official in PE‚ was fraudulent.
The defense denies that he is in SA illegally.
Omotoso is accused of luring girls, some as young as 13, from his church to his house in Umhlanga where he would pressure them into committing sexual acts with him.
The National Prosecuting Authority is opposing Omotoso’s bail.
