Groutville man crushed by rubble
The man had been demolishing a house when a wall collapsed on him
A man in his twenties was left with critical injuries after a tragic accident in Groutville this afternoon.
“The man was breaking down a wall shortly before 3pm when it collapsed on him, leaving him trapped under the rubble,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
He was found by community members, who called emergency services and managed to free the trapped man in the meantime.
The man was apparently demolishing a house with a view to rebuild when the accident happened.
Herbst said their patient was in a critical condition when rescue workers arrived and had to be placed onto a ventilator under the care of advanced life-support paramedics.
He suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to hospital for further care.
