Traffic comes to a stand-still following N2 collision

The roadway remained closed to allow emergency services to clear the scene, but traffic is now slowly moving again

Three people have been left with critical injuries following a horrific collision on the N2 this morning.
Paramedics arrived to find absolute carnage on the N2 near Sibaya just after 7am.
A Nissan 1400 bakkie reportedly collided witj the rear of a heavy goods vehicle, leaving three occupants of the bakkie entrapped in the twisted wreckage.
The jaws of life were needed to cut the occupants free.

Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise the three men, before two of them were taken by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further care.
The third occupant, a male, believed to be in his thirties, was in a critical condition and needed to be air lifted to hospital.
The facts surrounding the collision are speculative.
