Life starts at 50 with surfing, yoga and veggies
From belly dancing to yoga, the Ballito Pro event co-ordinator does it all in her spare time and has recently changed her lifestyle thanks to an Eat, Love, Pray journey
Ballito Pro event co-ordinator, Collette Bundy is the main lady behind the scenes of the world’s longest running professional surfing event and spends about ten months of the year grafting to make sure the festival goes off without a hitch.
The tough lady has recently gone through a lifestyle transition after an inspiring trip to India and said she has never felt better.
“I did a yoga and surf holiday in India last year spending one week in the South of India and the other in Sri Lanka. Surfing became a reality in my old age,” said the 50-year-old Bundy, who is planning to go to Bali at the end of the year for some more soul searching and waves.
“Yoga is not just exercise, it is a whole way of life for me and I still do hot yoga now. I also went to a cooking and yoga course at the Buddhist retreat in Ixopo at the beginning of February and became a vegetarian.
“I feel so much better and by default have lost a lot of weight, despite eating a lot more carbs now.”
Quick Q&A with Collette:
What is your comfort food?
Curry and rice from Tinley Manor.

The cooking channel, especially Nigella Lawson.
Where is your dream travel destination?
Cuba! It is such a cultural place and has been a closed environment for many years. There is a lot of intrigue and it has fascinated me for sometime.
Where do you want to travel to, but feel nervous about going?
I need to do the Trans-Siberian express trip and I was going to do it last year, but I am not ready yet.
