Last-minute rescue mission for kitten in Tongaat

The sopping wet, cold kitten was found stuck in a drain.

A young kitten’s life was saved by a tall paramedic who arrived just in the nick of time to rescue it in Tongaat last night.

Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner Shaun Paul was driving in Trurolands when he was flagged down by two young children stating that a cat had falling into a drain.

When Paul arrived at the location, the small kitten was meowing in distress some two meters down a storm water drain.

“With the improvisation of some rescue equipment, I managed to safely extract the sopping wet and cold kitten from the drain who by that stage was too exhausted to even resist,” said Paul.

The traumatized kitten collapsed in the paramedics hands.

Paul wrapped the roughly four-week-old kitten in a towel and offered her some water to try and hydrate the poor little bundle of fur.

The kitten has been named Cosmo and is getting some much deserved TLC at a Sables Creatures foster home.

She is extremely underweight and has an eye infection which is being treated.

Cosmo will probably be ready for a loving forever family in the next two weeks.

If you would like to adopt the kitten or help with fostering costs, WhatsApp Sables Creatures at 073 352 2836.
