Strong possibility of stage one load shedding this weekend

While the risk remains high, loadshedding will only be implemented if absolutely necessary.

After a much-needed break from loadshedding, Eskom announced yesterday that there is a strong possibility it may be implemented this weekend.

While loadshedding was not implemented yesterday, the power utility said in a statement this morning that there is an increased risk and people should use electricity sparingly.

“The loadshedding risk remains high for today and will continue over the weekend as there is a need to replenish emergency reserves (water and diesel) to limit the possibility and magnitude of loadshedding in the following week.

“While the risk remains high, loadshedding will only be implemented if absolutely necessary.”

Switch off geysers, pool pumps as well as all non-essential lighting and electric appliances to assist in reducing demand.

In the event of loadshedding, the North Coast will be affected as follows:
