A taste of the North Coast during KZN travel academy

Enterprise Ilembe CEO Nathi Nkomzwayo said he was thrilled to partner with Tourism KZN to host the second annual travel academy event.

Tour operators, travel agents and media from all over Africa got a taste of Ilembe during a KZN travel academy hosted by Tourism KZN on March 14.

The visitors, many of whom were from Southern African Development Community countries, received first-hand experience of the culture of the North Coast during the KZN travel academy.

The influential agents included big-name operators like Springbok Atlas, whose key markets are the UK, America and Germany.

Another important agency was Thompsons Africa, which brings tourists from the UK, Germany, the USA, China and India to KwaZulu-Natal. Other tour operators deal with other key markets in Africa as well as a range of clients in several European countries.

Enterprise Ilembe CEO Nathi Nkomzwayo said he was thrilled to partner with Tourism KZN to host the second annual travel academy event.

“The ultimate aim to host the academy is for agents and tour operators to recommend the Ilembe North Coast for holidays so that we grow the number of domestic and international arrivals into the region. This will boost our economy and, create and sustain jobs in the all-important tourism sector”.

The visitors, many of whom are from Southern African Development Community countries, had the first-hand experience of the culture of the North Coast during the KZN travel academy.

The guests started their visit by checking into the five-star Fairmont Zimbali Resort where they took part in workshops on Friday and Saturday with presentations from product owners from across the province including Enterprise Ilembe.

This was followed by visits to some of the local attractions, including adventure activities at the Suella Zimbili in Mandeni, King Shaka Visitor Centre, Luthuli Museum at Groutville and the Ilembe Winery at the Sugar Rush Park for a wine tasting session of Seventeen87.

Guests also enjoyed traditional cuisine at the Ten11 BraaiHouse in KwaDukuza and Impulse by the Sea in Tinley Manor.

This was followed by further tours across the province.
