Communion made easy thanks to Salt Rock family’s miracle in a cup
All-in-one pre-filled communion cups are now being manufactured locally.

When tragedy struck a Salt Rock family, they felt called to help spread the power of miracles.
Alidia and Dominic Symes were on holiday in Singapore when they got the news that Dominic’s dad was diagnosed with cancer on Christmas Day 2015.
Broken and shocked, the devoted Christians turned to God for strength and guidance.
“We were at New Creation Church in Singapore which speaks to taking part in communion as an integral part in healing. This put something in our heart and we knew we needed to make sure everyone has the opportunity and access to communion,” said Alidia, who goes to Linc Church in Salt Rock with her husband and two children.
“The holy communion, known also as the Lord’s supper, represents the greatest expression of God’s love for His people. Two items are used in the communion – the bread which represents Jesus’ body that was scourged and broken before and during His crucifixion, and the cup of wine or juice which represents His shed blood. This symbolic ritual of His death and resurrection is believed to have healing power.”

Back home, they got to work on finding a way to make this heart-driven mission a reality.
“We knew Linc was importing pre-packaged communion cups, but they were quite expensive and therefore not viable for everyone.”
The solution: manufacturing the all-in-one pre-filled communion cups locally.

The couple met fellow locals Mike and Cindy Jahnig who immediately believed in their idea and came on board as investors.
After two years of relentless research, the Symes’ came across the machine they needed for the task at the Canton Fair in China in 2017.
“A lot of prayer went into finding this machine and we feel the whole procedure was truly spirit lead. This is not a money making operation, it is a ministry vehicle “
They opened their factory in Canton Park, Shaka’s Head just over a year ago and The Miracle Meal was born.
Dominic said the beginning was tough as they worked through many teething problems but after nearly six months, things started to come right.
“We are currently producing 30 000 cups a month. Our aim is to get to 200 000. We supply Hillsong, Christian Revival Church and Redemption Church already and hope to keep spreading The Miracle Meal across the world.”
The easy to handle, convenient and hygienic communion cup means big churches and Christian conferences can easily and quickly offer communion as every congregation member can simply take their own cup which is complete with the juice and biscuit.
Alidia said knowing The Miracle Meal is giving people that instant healing power is something they feel very proud of.
“In the chaos of our busy everyday lives, picking up the cup gives you an instant, unplanned moment of peace with God. The minimalist packaging means nothing distracts you from the contents and the meaning of it. It is your moment to heal your mind.”
