Hundreds flock to see DA’s Maimane in action at Stanger Manor Hall
"Every time I visit this province I am reminded of its vast potential and what it could become if it had a government that works for all its people" - Mmusi Maimane.
Local Democratic Alliance (DA) supporters arrived in numbers at the Stanger Manor Hall last Thursday, as DA Federal Leader, Mmusi Maimane paid a special visit to the small town only days away from the 2019 National Elections.
Accompanied by local DA iLembe constituency head MP Dean Macpherson, DA iLembe caucus leader Cllr Madhun Sobram Sing and DA acting chairperson Cllr Kathleen Naidoo, Maimane said it was great to be in KwaDukuza.
“Every time I visit this province I am reminded of its vast potential and what it could become if it had a government that works for all its people,” said Maimane, who addressed a crowd of about 400 people.
He was received and blessed by a revered Hindu priest at the venue before being presented with an Eastern avant-garde suit coat and garlanded by Mrs SD Sing.

Before the DA presidential candidate addressed the capacity crowd at Manor Hall, he visited Glenhills and related his heartfelt disappointment with SAPS.
“Earlier this morning I visited a family in this community who were victims of a violent home invasion. In January, criminals broke into their home and attempted to steal their belongings.
“They called the police in KwaDukuza to come protect them, but the police never arrived on the crime scene. They are still waiting. The police never arrived, and still today, the police have not gone to the home and never investigated the crime.
“Fellow democrats, what is the most heart-breaking part of this family’s ordeal is that the violent housebreaking caused their son to suffer a heart attack and he sadly passed away just two weeks after the incident. I offer my deepest sympathy to the family and this community on their loss.”
He added that the 38-year-old man lost his life because of crime – a death that he said could have been avoided if “we had a police force that worked.”
Maimane was vehement saying that the people should vote for a government that will lock up criminals, not send them into government.

“The reality is that under the ANC, crime goes unpunished, and this community knows that all too well.”
“Fellow democrats, we have a choice before us on 8 May. We can complain, or we can bring change!
“For the people of Stanger, that choice is between a corrupt and inefficient police force under the ANC, or an honest and professional police force under the DA.
“That is why on 8 May, I need every single one of you to vote for the change that you deserve, and put your “X” next to the DA.”
Dean Macpherson said it was a privilege to have Maimane in Stanger for a historical visit ahead of the elections.
“Maimane was incredibly impressed with the massive turnout of DA voters, which is testimony to the great progress that the DA is making in the KwaDukuza municipality.
“I have no doubt that this all bodes well for the DA in the elections and those to come,” said Macpherson.
