“The power system however remains constrained and volatile, and while Eskom is making every effort to limit loadshedding, it could be implemented at short notice should there be a significant shift in plant performance and increased unplanned technical breakdowns,” read the statement.
Some power generating units at Eskom have been repaired however, emergency diesel and water reserves are being utilised today in order to supplement capacity due to generators only recently becoming operational again.
Eskom hopes to reduce the risk of loadshedding for the coming week.
“Plans are progressing well to repair the conveyor belt at Medupi power plant in order to achieve full operation,” read the statement.
Eskom urged customers to use air-conditioners sparingly during the heatwave.
