Ballito rally driver claims back-to-back SA Rally-Raid Championship victories
The Toyota Gazoo Racing duo of Botterill and Köhne leaned on their international rallying experience to maintain a steady pace in their Toyota Hilux IMT EVO.
Ballito’s Guy Botterill and navigator Henry Köhne dominated the Century Racing Outeniqua 400 to claim a wire-to-wire victory at the weekend.
The Garden Route stop of the 2026 SA Rally-Raid Championship offered a difficult course, while shifting weather conditions contributed to several non-finishes among experienced teams.
The Toyota Gazoo Racing duo of Botterill and Köhne leaned on their international rallying experience to maintain a steady pace in their Toyota Hilux IMT EVO. They claimed the overall Ultimate T1+ class win in a time of 5:42:47, ahead of Giniel de Villiers/Dennis Murphy and Gareth Woolridge/Boyd Dreyer.
“It was an unbelievably tricky event with varied terrain, lots of rocks, rough roads and trenches,” said Botterill.
“Henry was amazing on the notes as we opened the road for the entire event.”
The win makes it two in a row for the duo, who lead the respective driver and navigator standings in the 2026 SA Rally-Raid Championship. Their next stop is Vryheid on October 8 and 9.
