Kidnapping victim (8) reunited with her parents

The two people arrested are expected to appear in court on Monday.

Eight-year-old Dawnview Primary school pupil Amahle Mthimkhulu who was abducted on Wednesday has been reunited with her parents.

Two people were arrested this morning in connection with the kidnapping.

The man and woman, aged 26 and 30, who allegedly kidnapped her, were arrested in Umhlanga by KwaDukuza SAPS detectives, together with Umhlali K9 Search and Rescue, Ilembe Task Team and Hawks Security.

Amahle was taken outside Dawnview Primary School on Wednesday while waiting for her transport to arrive.

The two accused are expected to appear in court on Monday.

Amahle’s mother Mbali Mzimela (30) said she was overwhelmed with gratitude.

“I am out of words. I don’t know how to thank everybody; only God knows how my heart is skipping by the work they did in finding my daughter,” she said.

KwaDukuza SAPS station commander, Brigadier Sbongile Mhlongo expressed her gratitude to all SAPS members, KwaDukuza CPF, local security companies and the community of KwaDukuza for working around the clock to search for Amahle.

“Well done to the police officers who worked tirelessly to ensure that little Amahle could be reunited with her family today,” said Mhlongo.

She urged the public to install the SAPS “My SAPS” app, which they can use to submit tip-offs to the police, or to contact her on 082 376 2591 or KwaDukuza SAPS CPF chairperson Dr Zungu on 083 475 6945.
