High risk of loadshedding after Eskom loses three generators
The latest statement released indicates that the overnight loadshedding only assisted with partial recovery of Eskom's emergency resources and ought to enable the power utility to meet the morning demand.
Eksom implemented stage 2 loadshedding late Thursday night and used emergency reserves to meet electricity demands.
This morning the struggling power utility said there was a high risk of loadshedding being implemented later today.
The announcement came after three generators were lost.
“As a result, our emergency reserves are now at critically low levels and need to be replenished overnight in order to meet tomorrow’s (Friday) forecasted demand in electricity.
“That said, the risk of loadshedding for tomorrow (Friday) remains high if generating units do not return overnight as scheduled,” Eskom said.
The latest statement released indicates that the overnight loadshedding only assisted with partial recovery of Eskom’s emergency resources and ought to enable the power utility to meet the morning demand.
‘We will need to continue to replenish both our water levels at pumped storage schemes and diesel for our open cycle gas turbines over the weekend in order to place us in a better position to stabilise for the week ahead,” Eskom said.
