Win a Farmer Kickboat at The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Family Fishing Fun Day

Farmer Kickboats will display their sponsored rig up for grabs on Saturday to the winner of the selfie competition, as well as a new kiddies model which Daniel will be allowing people to try out on the water.

Farmer Kickboats will be sponsoring a brand new kickboat worth R5 500 for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Family Fishing Fun Day on November 23 at Hazelmere Dam, an ideal event to showcase the use of a hybrid between bank angling and boat fishing.

The event, which is to be held in conjunction with the Whale & Dolphin Tours Durban and Lynski Fishing Charters will see all proceeds go toward The Orphan Fund.

Daniel Farmer, a professional diesel mechanic by trade, makes quality kickboats and pontoon boats from Eshowe and delivers them as far as Australia to clients eager to take part in the latest trend in laid back fishing and fun.

A kickboat offers the use of a light watercraft without the noise.

Started four years ago as a hobby, the kickboats have seen a surge in popularity among the fresh water fishing community with their bolt-on construction and design, allowing owners to retro-fit fishing gear as they feel and explore the water without the chatter from an outboard motor – although a mounting point is available should you feel the need.

“The kickboats are very customisable, and anyone can pimp their ride to their taste however they like,” said Daniel.

Besides being small and lightweight enough to fit onto a roofrack of a vehicle, the boats offer the versatility and practicality of a fishing boat without the hassle.Other amazing prizes up for grabs on the day include the prize for the largest bass – in length – of a fishing charter sponsored by Lynski Fishing Charters valued at R7 500.

A kickboat can be used flexibly on the water.

Junior fishermen at the age of 13 and under may also look forward to a great rod and reel combo as well as lucky draw prizes.

Other prizes include a whale watching tour for 10 people, sponsored by Whale & Dolphin Tours Durban.

Gates open at 5am and prize-giving is set to start at 11.30am. Early bird registration is priced at R150 per bank angler and R200 per watercraft angler. On the day registration

will be R50 more per angler. The entry fee includes access to the dam and necessary fishing licences. Spectators are welcome at R44 per person.
