The family reported their father as missing to the SAPS after he failed to return home after a visit to Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal.

KwaDukuza police together with a local security company can be applauded after locating a missing person within 24 hours.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson, Priya Nunkumar, the 57-year-old father was reported missing by his family on November 19.

The family reported their father as missing to the SAPS after he failed to return home after a visit to Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal.

Acting swiftly, the SAPS began their search at the man’s workplace where vehicle tracking company Tracker had been notified to activate the tracker on the man’s company vehicle.

KwaDukuza Detectives found the vehicle in KwaDukuza, but the missing man was not in his vehicle.

“The KwaDukuza SAPS Detectives continued searching and the man was eventually found on 1st Ave, Newtown, in KwaDukuza,” said Nunkumar.

KwaDukuza SAPS reports that when the man was located, he was found to be highly confused and not in his right state of mind.

He was later reunited with his family.

KwaDukuza SAPS station commander, Brigadier SF Mhlongo applauded Lieutenant-Colonel EV Ngobese and Constable T Thring on their swift action in finding the missing 57-year-old.

“I am proud of my members for working swiftly and smartly to reunite the victim with his family,” she said.

“There is no waiting period to report a missing person,” she added.
