Salt Rock traffic lights finally given the go-ahead!

Tiffany's centre manager Nicky Vorster said the installation would take about three weeks.

Social media and local WhatsApp groups were abuzz on Monday when contractors were spotted at the entrance of Tiffany’s shopping centre, in what appeared to be the installation of the long-awaited traffic lights.

For the past eight years, traffic congestion at the entrance of the shopping centre has been a nightmare for hard-pressed motorists using the Salt Rock road and the site of many accidents.

Attempts to address the lack of traffic signals at the Tiffany’s/Foxhill intersection has long been a source of frustration for locals who have been demanding a solution to the congestion issue for almost a decade.

The new traffic lights will assist with traffic flow and improve driver and pedestrian safety.

Tiffany’s centre manager Nicky Vorster said they were pleased the issue would finally be put to rest.

Voster said the installation would take about three weeks and the centre management were hoping that it will be completed before the start of the busy season.

The South African Road Agency (Sanral) who is responsible for the road granted approval on condition the Tiffany’s developers undertake the work and foot the cost of the installation of traffic signals.
