Speaking up for women and children in Tongaat and KwaDukuza

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls.

The message to stop violence against women and children rang across the community this past week with campaigns in both Tongaat and KwaDukuza.

The Tongaat Victim Empowerment Centre together with CERT, Navic, Reaction Unit South Africa, National Security and the Tongaat SAPS held a parade throughout Tongaat last Saturday morning in the name of 16 Days of Activism.

The string of sirens and flashing lights was lead around the district by Constable Lance Naidoo of Tongaat SAPS, the social crime prevention coordinator for the Victim Empowerment Centre.

“The motorcade is representative of the Tongaat Victim Empowerment Centre’s attitude towards keeping our community safe and sound, with the support of all the members involved,” said Constable Naidoo.
