Stage 2 rotational loadshedding continues until 11pm tonight Eskom has announced, as a result of a capacity shortage due to generating units still out of service.

“Loadshedding is required all day today to cater for further trips and to create capacity to replenish water reserves for our pumped storage schemes.”

“We have made some progress in reducing the unplanned breakdowns from above 12 000MW yesterday to 11 000MW as at 7am this morning.

“There is also an improvement in managing coal handling with regard to wet coal, with only one station experiencing coal-handling problems, as a result of the incessant rains.

“We continue to utilise diesel and water resources at our open cycle gas turbines and pumped storage schemes respectively, to supplement capacity.

“We continue to ask customers to reduce demand as a concerted collective effort can help to avoid or lessen the level of loadshedding.

Eskom customers can check their loadshedding schedules on the Eskom website (loadshedding.eskom.co.za) or through the customer contact centre on 0860037566.

Ballito: 10am -12.30am.

If stage 2 continues tomorrow:

Ballito: 10am -12.30pm and 6pm – 8.30pm.
