IASCA sound-off makes thunder

Topping off at 176.9 decibels, the small yet powerful car shook the ground despite some technical issues that held the earthquake back, but still gave onlookers and bystanders a show to remember.

‘Dr Decibel’, also known as Jack Pretorius, headlined the IASCA sound-off at Sibaya on December 1 with his Ultimate Mini powered by Soundigital Amplifiers and RA Subwoofers.

Topping off at 176.9 decibels, the small yet powerful car shook the ground despite some technical issues that held the earthquake back, but still gave onlookers and bystanders a show to remember.

Attendees came through from as far as Cape Town and Witbank to have their vehicle presented as part of a Show and Shine featuring over 50 cars gleaming in the sunlight with their doors and engine bays open for all to admire.

The hum and buzz of subwoofers tested the seams and joins of different vehicles as each one cranked their custom-built sound systems to eardrum-shattering levels.

“The event was a tremendous success, and the sheer volume of people with their cars shows how many people were looking forward to the show,” said IASCA official Mohnish Ramgovind.

The two-day car show featured some of the loudest and proudest from South Africa’s motoring community and is looked forward to next year with eager anticipation.
