Rescue teams race against the clock to save four people trapped in car before train arrives

Emergency rescue crew are said to have raced against the clock to rescue those trapped within the vehicle before the scheduled train was due to arrive.

Efforts to rescue a driver who had lost control of his vehicle sending it hurtling down an embankment and onto a railway line this morning at Tinley Manor proved futile when he was declared dead at the scene.

It was a mad dash to rescue those trapped within the vehicle before the scheduled train was due to come through the area.

Three had suffered moderate injuries, with one being found in a critical condition.

“Once extricated, one of the passenger’s condition deteriorated and they were placed on a ventilator,” said IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst.
