Extreme wildlife photography with Matt Yardley
The now Ballito resident gave his audience some great advice on what it takes to catch an epic wildlife photograph.
Residents of Zimbali Estate were treated to an inspiring presentation over a cool glass of wine, by a premier wildlife photographer last week.
Matt Yardley, a game ranger who worked at Phinda Game Reserve for seven years and has done over 3000 game drives, showed the curious residents a slideshow of pictures and videos of his experiences as a game ranger.
The now Ballito resident gave his audience some great advice on what it takes to catch an epic wildlife photograph.
“You have got to be ready, understand your equipment and look out for tell-tale signs of what’s coming,” said Yardley, who described animal behaviour and clues about movements that suggest what an animal might do.
Showing a video of a cheetah lying on the floor with a partner, he pointed out that seeing the tail pick up ever so slightly was a sign.
“If you see that, know that it’s going to get up and move.”
“Learn all the rules, and then break each one of them,” he said.
