No security for post and parcels as boxes at Salt Rock remain unlocked
Residents have approached the Umhlali branch of the state-owned enterprise after it was discovered that the post boxes at Basil Hulett Drive were unlocked, nine days after initially reporting the matter and being told that it had been resolved.
Requests to protect the addresses, personal correspondence and parcels of numerous Salt Rock residents reliant on the services of the South African Post Office have fallen on deaf ears, it would seem.
Residents have approached the Umhlali branch of the state-owned enterprise after it was discovered that the post boxes at Basil Hulett Drive were unlocked, nine days after initially reporting the matter and being told that it had been resolved.
A resident who asked not to be named told the Courier that they had been asked to take and send photos of the unlocked boxes to a post office employee.
This was done on January 8 and the resident was told that the matter will be resolved.
However on Tuesday morning this week the boxes were still readily accessible to anyone walking past.
The resident also followed up with the same contact person she was told to send the photos to but has received no feedback.
A follow up was done with the post office by the Courier with the same employee, known only as Samantha, who said time was needed to allow an internal investigation to be conducted as to why the locks had not been replaced.
A further request for feedback was made to the SA Post Office head office, but there has been no reply.
