Criminals pose as door-to-door COVID-19 ‘screeners’ – Netcare
The fraudsters claimed to be assisting with the Health Department's screening and diagnosing of COVID-19 patients.

Netcare said today that the people claiming to be screening for the coronavirus at peoples’ homes are frauds.
Claiming to be from Netcare or Netcare 911, some people have allegedly claimed they are assisting the Health Department in screening and diagnosing COVID-19 patients in order to gain access to people’s homes.
This has reportedly happened in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
“Should someone claiming to be a representative from Netcare, Netcare 911 or Medicross arrive at your home or business premises claiming to do screening for the novel coronavirus, do not allow them onto your property or inside your business premises for your own safety but please alert the SAPS immediately,” said Netcare spokesperson Natasha Burger.

The total number of South African cases for COVID-19 is now at 62 and people are urged to practice good hygiene by washing hands regularly, coughing or sneezing into a their elbow or tissue and practicing social distancing.
