Tongaat patient recovers from coronavirus

Government has also gazetted that all restaurants, shebeens, bars and similar businesses close by 6pm daily, and 1pm on Sundays.

Admitted just under two weeks ago at the Mediclinic Victoria Tongaat hospital, a patient who had tested positive for the coronavirus has since recovered from the virus.

Mediclinic corporate communication manager, Tertia Kruger said the most recent tests had confirmed the patient’s recovery.

The test result came back negative.

“To achieve positive outcomes such as this, Mediclinic Victoria has implemented and updated all protocols laid out by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD),” said Kruger.

Meanwhile, the latest figures across the country show a total of 116 cases of coronavirus.

Government has also gazetted that all restaurants, shebeens, bars and similar businesses close by 6pm daily, and 1pm on Sundays – these businesses will only be allowed to open again the following day at 9am.

Liquor stores have been ordered to keep the same hours.

Granting of liquor licences has also been suspended for events.

The rules implemented to curb the spread of coronavirus form part of the Disaster Management Act.
