Ballito Junction Woolworths shuts as employee tests positive for Covid-19

The closure of the store - until further notice - was confirmed in a statement released by centre management on Friday.

Woolworths at the Ballito Junction Regional Mall  closed its doors on Friday after one of the store’s employees tested positive with coronavirus.

The closure of the store – until further notice – was confirmed in a letter to tenants by centre management on Friday.

The employee worked as a back-of-house team member and the letter said the Woolworths branch would be following all of the necessary health guidelines as laid out by the Health Department and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases.

Reopening of the store will be communicated by the center management, who reminded shoppers, tenants and staff of the importance of personal hygiene:

  • Wash hands for 20 seconds.
  • Use a hand sanitiser and let it dry on your hands.
  • Avoid direct contact with other shoppers and maintain at least a metre apart in distance.
  • Avoid touching surfaces.
  • Cover your cough, and sneeze into your flexed elbow or use a tissue if you have one – dispose of the tissue

The Woolworths at Ballito Lifestyle Centre and the New Salt Rock City shopping centre continue to trade as normal.

Tiffany’s Super Spar reopened today, five days after closing the shop after a coronavirus scare.

They posted the following on their Facebook page: “Tiffany’s Super Spar will be opening our doors tomorrow (Sunday) morning from 07h00 to 18h00. All the tests that we have received back so far have thankfully come back negative. Our staff are currently self isolating as precautionary measures and as per the regulations for the next two weeks. We will be updating you as soon as we have anymore feedback.”

Both Ballito Junction and Woolworth had not responded at the time of publication.
