Sasko Bakeries resumes production after four employees test positive for Covid-19
It was added that during the temporary closure, customer demand had been met through support from other bakeries in the group.
Production of thousands of breads has resumed yesterday after four employees tested positive at Sasko’s largest bakery, based at Shakaskraal earlier this week.
The production unit at the bakery was shut and group coomunications manager at Pioneer Foods, Deborah-Ann Sharwood said that deep cleaning and sanitisation efforts were carried out.
“As per our protocols, we traced all employees who were in close contact with the affected employees,” said Sharwood.
Currently, those affected are in self-isolation and are being monitored closely.
“We have been working closely with the Departments of Health and Labour in order to ensure that we have a safe working environment before we started producing bread again.
“The health and safety of our employees remains our first priority.”
It was added that during the temporary closure, customer demand had been met through support from other bakeries in the group.
“We can confirm that our remedial protocols and related work has been completed and that production [has] resumed.”
