Factory workers test positive for Covid-19 in Shaka’s Head
Boxer marketing director Andrew Mills on Tuesday evening confirmed that 40 workers had tested positive for Covid-19.
Forty workers at Boxer Meat Factory in Shaka’s Head, Imbonini Park have tested positive for Covid-19.
This was confirmed by Boxer marketing director Andrew Mills last night.
He said that on Friday their security company had informed them that the guard stationed at the factory had tested positive.
“Both proactively and immediately we informed all factory staff,” said Mills, adding that affected suppliers and contractors had also been notified.
According to Mills, two weeks before this confirmation the Health Department had visited the factory and were satisfied with the controls in place.
Necessary testing and tracing controls were put in motion and cautionary testing of all staff took place through a local laboratory the next day.
“To date 40 staff have tested positive for Covid-19,” said Mills.
He said the health and labour departments returned to the factory on Monday and once again approved the factory’s health and safety procedures.
