KwaDukuza hospital doctor remains in self-isolation as 176 staff test negative
Hospital spokesperson Elsa Benade said the doctor who tested positive had contracted it outside the facility.

After a KwaDukuza Private Hospital doctor tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this month, the hospital confirmed that it had concluded testing of some 176 staff.
“Inclusive of the 176 staff were service providers. Results came back negative for all,” said Africa Health Care chief operating officer, Elsa Benade.
According to Benade, the doctor had contracted the virus outside of the facility.
He was self-isolating at the time, prior to becoming symptomatic.
“He will resume duties once he has fully recovered and it is safe to do so,” said Benade.
She said the necessary steps had been taken to ensure that KwaDukuza Private Hospital remained a safe environment.
“All staff are adhering to the Health department and National Institute for Communicable Diseases guidelines. The specialists and staff remain committed to ensure that no person is compromised in any way, while providing excellent healthcare to our patients,” she said.
