KwaDukuza licencing centre reopening postponed yet again

According to KwaDukuza municipal spokesperson, Sipho Mkhize, the Department of Transport is yet to give approval for the opening to go ahead.

North Coast motorists itching to have their drivers’ licences renewed will have to wait until earliest June 12.

KwaDukuza Municipality’s motor and driver licencing centres were scheduled to open on June 1 in terms of amendments to the Disaster Management Act.

This was postponed to June 8 and has since been postponed again.

According to KwaDukuza municipal spokesperson, Sipho Mkhize, the transport department must approve the opening.

“In as much as we are ready to accommodate staff and public in a hygienic and safe environment, we are waiting for approval,” he said.

“The earliest date we may open is June 12.”

For those with expired licences, a 90-day grace period was gazetted from June 1.
