As with most years, litchis again stole the spotlight at The Litchi Orchard in Foxhill, Salt Rock, last Saturday.

Durban visitors Rene Lupke and Jared Marais said they couldn’t wait to get their hands on some of this year’s pickings of litchi.

The Litchi Orchard’s Rebecca Eb said that they were beyond excited to welcome locals and holidaymakers alike following litchis becoming available, with yield closely resembling last year’s.

Thirst Bar Services’ Stephanie Botha and Yasteel Govender served up some delicious gin and tonic concoctions.

Those who attended the Christmas Makers Market on Saturday said that they thoroughly enjoyed the open atmosphere and were eager to get their hands on some of the fresh fruit, leaving children with sticky fingers and lips smacking.

Spending some quality time together at the Litchi Orchard’s Christmas Makers Market last weekend were Nadine Polayya and Brendan Lloyd.

Other highlights outside of the makers market craft goods included gin and tonic, which was found to be the perfect accompaniment to litchis while guests got to enjoy live entertainment provided by Durban band, Generation 246.

With cutlery and handmade beach apparel for sale at the Christmas Makers Market were mom and daughter, Carol and Christie Bradford.
