Dr Louis Luyt’s Ballito mansion sold for whopping R142-million

It is understood that the South African Revenue Service was investigating the purchase.

Former Ballito resident, tycoon, one-time rugby administrator and South African politician Dr Louis Luyt’s Compensation Beach Road mansion has been sold for a whopping R142-million, an anonymous source with ties to the real estate sector revealed this morning.

But whom you may ask will get to wake up each morning and take in the sweeping ocean and beach views with swaying palm trees set in a beautiful garden, a sparkling pool and sundeck featuring an abundance of privacy?

Sale agreement documents obtained from Coastal Real Estate indicate that the buyer is none other than former president Jacob Zuma.

Zuma may soon face arrest if the Constitutional Court of South Africa gives the green light to take him into police custody, which police minister Bheki Cele said would be done regardless of the former president’s status.

However this does not seem to have affected the former president’s plans to secure a home-base closer to Durban.

The mansion features 11 bedrooms and an exquisite master suite, all decorated and en-suite, boasting gardens and balconies with panoramic sea views.

Sources within the president’s retinue said he needed somewhere close to King Shaka International airport as he foresaw that he may be traveling internationally more often in the near future.

“The house is not as luxurious as Nkandla but with so many journalists nosing about the place it is hardly the retreat that Msholozi needs. The mansion’s many apartments are also perfect to house the many wives and their extensive families.”

Coastal Real Estate sales director, Gertrude White-lie opted to not provide comment into the sale, aside from confirming that a wire transfer of the full amount for the property’s purchase came through a bank account in the Cayman Islands.

It is understood that the South African Revenue Service was investigating the purchase.

Anton Gullible, a spokesperson with SARS declined to comment on the investigation.

Further documentation provided to the Courier, was submitted to KwaDuzuza municipality’s town planning division on April 1.

Municipal spokesperson Honest Mkizwe confirmed that the documentation had been summited but could not comment further.

Incidentally, the Courier received a call from Ballito resident Riaan Verstir today claiming he’d seen Atul Gupta in the Pick n Pay bottle store.

“I swear it was him. He bought a whole case of Jonny Walker Blue.”

Atul may just have been stocking up on April 1 before bottle stores close over the long weekend.
