Stanger SuperSpar to reopen on Friday
Vehicle and pedestrian access into the shopping centre will be carefully controlled.
Amid devastation in parts of the KwaDukuza CBD today a ray of hope for residents was that Stanger SuperSpar remained standing.
The grocery store will be a key source of food and essentials in the coming weeks.
The SuperSpar announced this evening that they would reopen to trade tomorrow, July 16.
Trading hours are strictly from 7am to 4pm until further notice.
“We have put restrictions in place to ensure, first and foremost, the safety and security of both our customers and staff as well as the equitable distribution of food and essentials amongst the community,” the store announced on Facebook this evening.
For this reason the following will apply:
Vehicle and pedestrian access into the centre will be controlled at entry points as follows:
- Vehicles will only be able to ENTER the centre from ONE entry point, that being from BLAINE STREET into BALCOMB STREET.
- Vehicles will only be able to EXIT the centre from ONE exit point, that being from BALCOMB STREET into GIZENGA STREET.
- 60 vehicles will be permitted into the centre parking at any one time and will need to queue thereafter. Access will then be controlled in a 1 in, 1 out manner.
- Maximum 2 persons per vehicle will be permitted entry into the centre.
- Pedestrians may access the centre via one entry point only, being the staircase on Gizenga Street.
- 120 pedestrians will be permitted access into the centre at any one time and will need to queue thereafter. Access will then be controlled in a 1 in, 1 out manner. This will ensure an equitable split between vehicles and pedestrians.
- A maximum number of 100 customers will be allowed into the store at any one given time, thereafter 1 in, 1 out.
- All products will be strictly limited to 1 (one) per customer, to ensure that food and essential goods is distributed as fairly as possible at this time.
- There will be strict security measures in place.
- All health and safety protocols must be strictly adhered to.
- Queues will be managed towards closing times at both the centre access points and dependent on the length of queues, no further customers may be permitted to join the queue to prevent conflict or disappointment.
