KwaDukuza roads clear and quiet come Monday

Roads in KwaDukuza roads are open and quiet this morning, despite a number of messages circulating at the weekend warning that protest action could be expected on a grand scale today.

Outside of KwaDukuza, no incidents were reported on the main roads to Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Empangeni.

Greater Ballito Operations Centre (GBOC), chief executive Warwick Chapman confirmed that KwaDukuza was stable with a strong police presence.

“Vehicle check points are active at all major intersections.

“Public transport is currently operating although not at full capacity.

“The N2, R102, R74 are open with no obstruction.”

“No incidents were reported last night.”

Warwick said fuel stations were open and most food outlets would open this morning.

While roads are open, motorists should remain cautious of debris and clean-up crews who may be busy on the roads.
