The Dolphin Coast Taxi Association monitors taxi ranks following last month’s unrest

Taxi owners will be visiting taxi ranks tomorrow morning from 5am to 7am.

The Dolphin Coast Taxi Association (DCTA) says it will not tolerate its drivers or vehicles taking part in any attempts to provoke a return of the province to a state of unrest.

The DCTA will be inspecting ranks tomorrow morning between 5am and 7am as part of an ongoing effort to monitor taxi ranks following last month’s unrest.

The DCTA was crucial in helping to maintain the safety of the Greater Ballito Area during the unrest and continue to be an important role player in everyday safety for all North Coast residents.

“The Taxi Association has made its position with respect to the unrest very clear: it will not tolerate the participation of any of its drivers or vehicles in any unrest related activities,” said CEO of the Greater Ballito Operations Centre, Warwick Chapman.

Law enforcement, private security and retail outlets have been informed of the operation tomorrow.

“We have assurances the operation will be orderly and peaceful, and we appreciate the ongoing partnership with the Association,” said Chapman.
