Salta Village draws R1-billion in sales at official launch

It fits with a growing trend that sees families moving north from Durban and Gauteng-based families looking to retire near the sea.

The Salta development near Umdloti has already registered more than R1-billion in sales.

A fair portion of this has come from Salta’s most recent launch, the Capri Village active retirement section of the estate.

It officially launched last Saturday and more than 40% of the 132 planned homes have already been sold.

This follows the trend of Salta’s other sections; the main estate has 80% of planned homes sold and at Mt Cotton 98% of stands have sold.

This matches a continuing demand for development on the North Coast and Sibaya/Umdloti is no different as buyers search for the small-town feel that the coastline offers.

The last 10 years have seen extensive development in the Sibaya Precinct and it is now a bustling village overlooking the Umdloti town.

Salta started the research phase of development in 2016 and plans to have the estate completed by 2025, which will offer 1 500 homes when complete.

The Capri Village section caters for active over-50s and will offer a clubhouse, cycle and running track, further sport facilities and a dedicated precinct frail care within 2 minutes of the village.

“Our research, in combination with Retire KZN, indicates that people look for very similar things when planning for retirement. Safety, community, access to medical care, accessibility and pet friendliness,” said Stefan Botha of Rainmaker Marketing.

It fits with a growing trend that sees families moving north from Durban and Gauteng-based families looking to retire near the sea.

Umdloti locals who have raised concerns about the lack of food retailers in town will also be grateful to know that a dedicated shopping centre will be included on the wider Salta estate upon completion.

The Capri Village development offers 1, 2 or 3 bedroom freestanding freehold or sectional title homes starting from R2 million and they are targeted at active over 50s.

They are step-free, ensuring that access is equitable for all who want retire in comfort.
