Stage 2 loadshedding starts as Eskom turns to emergency reserves
Emergency generation reserves are currently being used to supplement supply, with more than 21 000MW out.
Eskom earlier today warned that it may implement loadshedding at short notice, and that’s what the state-owned utility provider has done, implementing stage 2 which will run from 4pm today until 5am tomorrow morning.
Stage 2 loadshedding took effect owing to a unit tripping at Kusile power station.
Units at Matimba and Arnot, expected to return to service today, were also failed to be brought back to service.
“These constraints are expected to persist for the rest of the week, which may require for loadshedding to be extended,” Eskom said.

Ballito Southern Grid: Wednesday morning 4-5am.
Stanger Northern Grid: 8pm to 10.30pm, and again from 4am to 5am.
Tongaat: 6pm to 8pm.
Tongaat Beach: 6pm to 8pm.
