Loadshedding risk high, says Eskom
Eskom has more than 20 000MW out of capacity and warned that it may have to implement loadshedding at short notice.
Eskom has warned that it may have no choice but to implement loadshedding should further breakdowns occur.
The power utility lost 5 generation units today, 3 within the past 2 hours.
While no loadshedding is as yet expected, Eskom asked the public to reduce their usage.
“A generating unit each at Kusile and Majuba were taken offline to repair boiler tube leaks, while a generating unit each at Kriel, Majuba and Matimba tripped.”
Return to service of units at Kendal and Tutuka power stations have also been delayed.
