Eskom starts loadshedding stage 2

Stage 2 loadshedding is expected to start at 9pm tonight, and continue until Monday morning at 5am.

Eskom today said loadshedding stage 2 will start at 9pm, continuing until Monday morning at 5am, warning that further issues may see loadshedding start earlier.

A unit each had failed at Medupi, Kusile and Arnot power stations, complicated further by the failure to return a unit to service at the Tutuka power station.

Medupi power station reported faults with coal conveyor belts.

Kendall power station also had a complete shutdown of its ash plant owing to a electrical fault.

Backlog recovery with both Medupi and Kendall power stations are underway.
